Beam Power Plant | WMU DESCRIPTION:At the time the 1925 era power plant transferred to Western Michigan University\, it was a 100 percent coal-fired facility with 40 to 50-year-old boilers that had become unreliable and environmentally non-compliant. Many of us drive past the unmarked\, gated entrance off Stadium Drive\, but few realize the building behind there provides power for all of WMU campus and more.\n Its current use is an efficient co-generation  power distribution providing steam heat\, electricity and cooling production for the campus of Western Michigan University. As complex as the plant is\, it is only staffed by 17 people year-round\, with some being certified welders and electricians. With 19 years of experience in the construction industry\, Lindsey began her career on the job site\, understanding the vital role that virtual design and construction and other technologies play in the building environment. As Vice President\, Lindsey provides leadership for the continued development of an innovative\, robust\, and secure information technology environment throughout the firm.
