Join us for Block Kids: Feb 4

  • Home

One of the largest events our NAWIC chapter has held since 1991 is our Block Kids Program. The Block Kids Program is a national program competition that is sponsored on the local level by NAWIC chapters and other organizations. The award-winning program introduces children to the construction industry in an effort to promote an interest in future careers in one of the many facets of the industry.  The competition involves the construction of various structures with interlocking blocks and three of the following additional items:  a small rockstring, foil, and poster board. Local winners advance to the Regional Competition and one semi-finalist from each region is entered in the National Program competitions. National prizes are awarded to the top three projects. All our local judges are volunteers from companies within the construction community such as: landscapers, engineers, architects, accountants, lawyers, suppliers, and construction managers or operators. We are continuously surprised and inspired by the creativeness of the next generation and our own Block Kids Program participants. Join us for Block Kids!  Block Kids is a national LEGO building competition put on by the National Association of Women in Construction. The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek NAWIC Chapter does it best with nearly 100 students and 30+ industry judges participating most years!
