Jul 9: Comstock High School Improvements
Our tour began by walking through the facility to observe the current renovations happening at Comstock High School primarily the main secured entrance, mechanical and electrical upgradesrestroom and locker room updates. The architect on the project is GMB out of Holland and the construction manager is Miller Davis of Kalamazoo. The project is part of a $40 million bond program. This phase began when school was in session allowing the students to be engaged with construction as a learning experience.

Apr 25: Tour of the Robert M. Beam Power Plant | WMU
At the time the 1925 era power plant transferred to Western Michigan University, it was a 100 percent coal-fired facility with 40 to 50-year-old boilers that had become unreliable and environmentally non-compliant.
Its current use is an efficient co-generation power distribution providing steam heat, electricity and cooling production for the campus of Western Michigan University. As complex as the plant is, it is only staffed by 17 people year-round, with some being certified welders and electricians. The plant also offers a unique on-the-job training program for trades people.

Nov 18: Volunteer Day with Kalamazoo Habitat for Humanity
Where: Final clean-up and preparation (priming wood trim, caulking windows and baseboards) for home dedication located on Southern Ave. in Kalamazoo took place in the morning.
In the afternoon we unloaded the work trailer and pitched in for deep warehouse cleaning and organization. We also filled the trailer to the brim with items from the warehouse to be sold at the Restore locations.
Oct 19: Candle Making & Officer Installation
Where: Kalamazoo Candle Company. Welcome new chapter members Whitney and Tara. The candle-making class included a Q & A with Kalamazoo Candle Co. owner and founder, Adam.
Sept 22: Golf Outing – Joint with AIA/NAWIC/CFMA
Where: Heritage Glen Golf Club, 29795 Heritage Lane, Paw Paw, MI 49079, USA
( the best joint association golf outing in the construction industry.)
